The nationally famous Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band gives us a short look at what a day in the life is like for them at practice.

Membership

All prospective members of the Aggie Band are required to have had both high school playing and marching band experience as well as pass an audition with a director, after receiving an admission offer from Texas A&M. Prospective cadets will be asked to play a prepared piece of music and demonstrate their sight-reading skills by sight-reading a march.

Rehearsals

The Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band rehearses Monday through Friday, 7–8:30 a.m. Indoor rehearsals are held in the Music Activities Center and drill rehearsals take place on the drill field located adjacent to the Music Activities Center. Aggie Band members receive one academic credit for each semester of participation in the band.

In the fall of 2019, 2022, and 2024, the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band completed a series of recordings that took place during standard morning rehearsal times in the Motheral Rehearsal Room at the White-Walker Music Activities Center on campus. The recordings include traditional songs and marches that are performed by the Aggie Band at most on-campus events.

Audition Information

All prospective members of the Aggie Band are required to have had both high school playing and marching band experience as well as pass an audition with a director. Prospective cadets will be asked to play a prepared piece of music and demonstrate their sight-reading skills. If you have questions regarding auditioning, you may contact the band’s director.

Audition for the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band

If you are interested in auditioning for the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, we will hear auditions beginning each spring.

All percussion auditions will be heard at either Spend the Night with the Corps (information below) OR on February 28, 2026. 

Official 2026 audition dates for the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band are:

  • Saturday, February 28
  • Saturday, March 21
  • Saturday, April 18

During any spring semester the Spend the Night with the Corps program is highly recommended for all prospects.
