No, Corps membership is not required to be in the Singing Cadets, although we do have some Corps members. In 1963, when Texas A&M began to accept students who did not participate in the Corps of Cadets, the Singing Cadets changed its membership requirements to allow any male student to be a part of the Singing Cadets.

All rehearsals are mandatory. We rehearse Monday and Wednesday from 3-3:50 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 3:55-5:10 p.m. If you need help changing your schedule, let us know and we will be happy to help you.

All of our local tours are paid for by the Singing Cadets, The Association of Former Students and by private donors. There is a $100 uniform deposit which will be refunded once one leaves the group. Additionally, members are expected to pay for the dry cleaning of their uniforms as determined by our uniform manager, usually 2-4 times per semester.

Visit the Auditions webpage for more information about auditioning for the Singing Cadets.

“The purpose of the Singing Cadets shall be to enhance the public relations of Texas A&M University through musical presentations as deemed appropriate by the director and to develop disciplined leaders of character as defined by the Singing Cadet Handbook.”

This includes a 10-day tour in the beginning of January, three-weekend tours in the Spring semester to the Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston areas, as well as national and international tours.

We participate in as many on-campus service events as we can. We have also had the opportunity to sing for distinguished audiences such as current and former presidents, senators, congressmen, governors, university officials and Aggie Moms clubs.
